Meeting between the Faculty and Media Organizations Leaderships

 

 

 

A Job Fair for the journalism and media students of Yarmouk University

 

 

 

 
 


 

The Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists [CDFJ] organizes a Job Fair for the journalism and media students of Yarmouk University. The event will take place on May 17th 2008 at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman.

 

 

100 students will participate in the event introduced in cooperation with Journalism and Media Department in Yarmouk, The International Exchange and Research Board [IREX], and USAID. Furthermore, 15 media organizations (radio, television, written press, public relations) will be present to offer career and training opportunities for the students.

 

 

This job fair is considered the first organized to support the students of journalism and media.

 

 

Alongside the job fair, a meeting will be held between the faculty of journalism and media of Yarmouk and media organizations leaderships. The meeting will focus on methods of strengthening the cooperation between the two sides.

 

 

Nidal Mansour, president of CDFJ, said "we aspire to hold this job fair regularly to facilitate the career and training opportunities for the students. In addition, we hope to continue the students training program after reviewing the encouraging results of the first workshops."

 

 

Mansour expressed his appreciation for the media organizations which showed willingness to support media students. He emphasized that media students face difficulties through their search for job opportunities, and all involved bodies are united in quest for radical solutions.

 

Mansour mentioned that a meeting between media organizations and members of the media and journalism faculty of Yarmouk will be held to discuss methods of strengthening the cooperation to support the development of students' skills, and increase their presence in the media scenery.
